Carolyn Ann Rice, 71 years old, entered into eternal peace on Sunday, January 18, 2013, at her home in Dothan, AL.

Carolyn was the oldest daughter of the late Rachel Rice of Rehobeth, AL. She was a native of Dothan & graduated from Dothan High School in 1962. She also attended Wallace College where she studied Interior Design. Her creative gift was developed and was often showcased at weddings and in her decorating throughout many homes in the Wiregrass area. She also brought Christmas joy to the elderly for over a decade through her beautiful decorations at various local senior facilities. She taught seminars on interior design & was a regular guest on the Ann Varnum Show. She was best known for unique & beautiful floral arrangements, and her kind and generous spirit. She loved to cook, write, chat with friends, and to especially spend time with her children and grandchildren.

She leaves her loving memories to be cherished by her children, Chris Spann (Cheri) of Panama City Beach, FL, Scott Spann and Kimberly Spann Weeks (Charles) of Dothan, AL, and by her four grandchildren: Sierra and J.C. Spann, and Gage and Tres Weeks. A free spirit and lover of life, Carolyn often shared with her friends and family the following quote: "Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, martini in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming, "Woo Hoo what a ride!" - Maxine Cartoon/Hunter S. Thompson

In memory of Carolyn, the family requests that a donation be made to the Navy Diver Foundation, a charity founded by her son, CWO5 Chris Spann, @navydiverfoundation.org. Per Carolyn's wishes, the family will hold a Celebration of Life Ceremony at a later date as yet to be determined. For more info contact Kimberly Weeks at [email protected]
