ECHO COMMUNITY…Carolyn Carruth (Carol) Hughes, a resident of the Echo Community of Dale County, died early Monday afternoon, April 15, 2013, in a Dothan hospital. She was 65.


            Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, April 17, 2013, in the Echo United Methodist Church with Reverend Tom Skeen officiating. Burial will follow in the Echo Cemetery. Holman-Headland Mortuary is in charge of funeral arrangements. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Tuesday at the mortuary in Headland.


            Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Echo United Methodist Church, c/o Linda Ward, 12066 East State Highway 27, Newville, AL 36353.


            Carol Hughes was born and reared in Lamar County, Alabama, near Vernon, daughter of the late Early Carruth and Edna Taylor Carruth. She formerly lived in Wicksburg before moving to the Echo Community in 1988. Carol was employed by Denney Vision Technologies in Dothan as a frame stylist for the past thirty-one years. She was a member of the Echo United Methodist Church.


            Surviving relatives include her husband, Charles David Hughes, II; a daughter, Stacey Hughes Phillips and husband, Andy, all of the Echo Community; three grandchildren, Katelyn, Makayla, and Cody Phillips; her mother-in-law, Sara Nell Riley, Echo Community; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Carol and Bill Hooks, Hinesville, GA; Tim and Sheri Riley, Asbury Community, and Sheryl and Steve Sketo, Echo Community; several nieces and nephews.
