Carolyn Newsome Simmons passed away Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at her residence in Enterprise.  She was 77.


Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., Friday, May 22, 2015 in the Chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory of Enterprise with Reverend Tom Skeen officiating.  Burial will follow in Meadowlawn Cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory directing.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday beginning at 1:00 and continuing until service time.


Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to DaySpring Hospice, PO Box 311246, Enterprise, AL 36331.


Carolyn was born June 6, 1937 in Coffee County to the late Robert and Nell Newsome.  She was a lifetime member of Pleasant Ridge United Methodist Church in Enterprise.


In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Fussell Simmons; one sister, Sarah Hutto; two brothers: Doug and Wilburn Newsome.


Survivors include one son: Mike Simmons and friend Shirley Helms; two daughters: Sue Simmons, and Debbie Sutton (Dave); three grandsons: Sam Redmon (Brandy), Matthew Simmons (Tanya), and Robert Simmons (Ashley); four great-grandchildren: Wyatt Simmons, Braylee Simmons, Bradon Deloach, and Aubrie Deloach; two nieces: Ann Wallace (Doug), Renee Jordon (Robert); sister-in-law, Nadine Newsome; special friends, Benny and Brenda Babb; caregiver, Kyla Jones.
