Chainee Kay Allred Purvis


Chainee Kay Allred Purvis, of Dothan, passed away Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at UAB Hospital in Birmingham. She was 51. She was loving, compassionate and had a quick wit that made everyone smile. Chainee was always full of life and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.


Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at Byrd Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Andy Gartman and Rev. Phillip Collins officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Gilead Baptist Church Cemetery with Byrd Funeral Home on West Main Street directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 p.m. on Monday. Flowers are being accepted or memorials may be made to Tabernacle United Methodist Church, “Missions”. At other times the family will be at the home of her sister-in-law, Sherryl and Tim Walker, 5900 Fortner Street.


Chainee was born April 11, 1963 in Auburndale, Florida, the daughter of Raymond and Annette Allred and was raised with three brothers, Connie, James and Lydon. She was a 1981 graduate of Auburndale High School. She later moved to Shorterville, AL where she met and married Don Purvis. In 1989, they became parents of their only daughter, Ashley Kay. They relocated to Dothan and Chainee obtained her Associates Nursing Degree from Wallace College. She was employed with Flowers Hospital from 2004 until 2014 as an SICU Nurse. In 2006 she unfortunately became widowed where in turn she met her special friend, Mark Emerson and in 2008 they were blessed with a granddaughter, Autumn Annette. Chainee loved ‘The Land’ and spending time at the beach. Her last years were happily fulfilled spending time with Mark, her granddaughter and family. She was an active member of Tabernacle United Methodist Church.


Chainee is predeceased by her husband, Raymond “Don” Purvis and a brother, Connie Allred.


Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, Ashley Purvis-Fulford and Randy Fulford of Dothan and Rachel Bradley; a granddaughter, Autumn Annette Purvis Fulford of Dothan; her parents, Raymond and Annette Allred; two brothers, James Allred and Lydon Allred; special friends, Mark Emerson, Connie Jones, Cherie Hendricks and Cheryl Roland; many nieces, nephews and close friends also survive.
