           Charles Cayce Bond, a resident of Dothan, died early Tuesday morning, February 14, 2017, at his home. He was 73.


            Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, February 16, 2017, in the Piney Grove Primitive Baptist Church, Headland, with Elder Clayton Nowell officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory, between Headland & Dothan. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 4:30 until 7:00 P.M. Wednesday in the sanctuary of the Piney Grove Primitive Baptist Church.


            In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Piney Grove Primitive Baptist Church, P.O. Box 401, Headland, AL 36345 or to Kindred Hospice, 2740 Headland Avenue, Dothan, AL 36303 or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.


            Charles Bond was born August 19, 1943 in Donalsonville, Georgia to Leslie and Beatrice Shelley Bond. He graduated from Houston County High School in Columbia in 1961. Upon graduation Charles enlisted in the U. S. Navy. He served on active duty three years and later three years in the Naval Reserve. He was discharged from the Navy in August 1964 as a Graduate of Distinction, Electrician’s Mate, Class A.


            Charles began his electrical career with Alabama Electrical Construction Company in Dothan in August 1964 and worked with the company until 1968. He was employed by Southern Electric Construction, Albany, GA until 1972. In October of 1972, he began working for Scarborough & Associates Electrical Contractors of Dothan and remained with the firm for thirty-seven years until his retirement in May 2011 due health reasons. Charles thoroughly enjoyed his work, was a faithful and loyal employee, and was considered to be one of the best electricians of his time.


            Charles joined the Piney Grove Primitive Baptist Church in Headland September 22, 1960 and was baptized October 9, 1960. He was elected to serve as treasurer August 9, 1975 and held this office until August 5, 1998. Charles was ordained to the office of Deacon November 27, 1983 and remained faithful as long as health permitted.  He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Miriam Everett Williams and a brother, Billy King Bond.


            Surviving relatives include his wife of fifty-one years, Charlotte S. Bond; two daughters, Robyn Bond Craig (Scot); and Laurie Ann Bond Williams (Paul), all of Dothan;; seven grandchildren, Danielle Womack (Brandon), Tori Cowan (Andrew), Sgt. Trey McNeal (Ginny), LCpl Coby McNeal, Tyler Williams,  Cayce Williams, Joshua Williams (Mileah); two great-grandchildren, Braxton Womack and Brody Williams and two great-grandchildren on the way; a sister, Gloria Jean Sheppard, Grimes; a brother, Sam Bond, Headland; a sister in law, Ilene Bond, Hinesville, GA several nieces, nephews and cousins.


            Serving as active pallbearers will be grandsons and grandsons-in-law.


            The family wishes to thank Kindred Hospice for the wonderful care of their loved one during his illness, most especially Lynda Campbell and Kendra Duke.
