Charles Bennett Wilkinson (Charlie) age 67, went home to be with the Lord Sunday, October 5, 2014, at his home in Ewell due to a short illness.

He was born to Charlie and Grattis Wilkinson on October 22, 1946 in Eufaula, AL.  Charles is preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Vastin, Charlie Mack, Johnny L, Jerry E.; one sister, Bernice Beavers.

Charles is survived by his wife, Eldora Fulford-Wilkinson of nine years, October 8, 2005.  He is also survived by his children, Joanne (Scott) Dixon, Wayne (Marcy) Ward; five grandchildren, Courtney Culley, Kevin Dixon, Graeme Ward, Liam Ward and Tim Armstrong; sisters-in-law, Lenora Watson, Debbie (Joe) Watson, Jan (Billy Wayne) Glover, Tommy (Mark) Eaton, Betty Sue Wilkinson and Glenda Faye Wilkinson; brother-in-law, Jerry (Lynda) Fulford; also surviving are many cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Charles served and retired after 22 years in the U.S. Navy which included a tour in Vietnam and Korea.

Funeral services will be held at New Covenant Church on County Rd. 55 in Newton, AL. at 2:00pm on Thursday, October 9, 2014 with Bro. Robert Smith and Bro. Don Farris officiating.  Burial will follow at Newton City Cemetery with military honors under the direction of Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, October 8, from 6:00pm unitl 8:00pm.
