Mr. Charles E. Heath, a long-time resident of Dothan, passed away to be with his Lord on Thursday, September 18, 2014 after a long and courageous battle. He was 78.

Mr. Heath was born in Deland, Florida to the late Emmett and Ruby Heath and was a graduate of Dothan High School in 1957. In 1964, he married his sweetheart Marcia A. White and together they built their lives in Dothan raising their son Robin, making numerous contributions to the local community. Charles and Ann were the founders of Sport World. Charles thoroughly enjoyed SEC football and was an avid Alabama fan. He enjoyed being part of an extended family at a local Dothan furniture business who adopted him after his wife Ann passed away. He continued to work there until just a few weeks ago when he went into the hospital.

Charles was a devoted husband and father who is survived by his son, Robin Heath (and wife Treva) of Fernandina Beach, FL; a sister, Betty Padgett (and husband John) of Marianna, FL; and a sister-in-law, Gloria Whitestone (and husband Bruce) of Germantown, TN. Charles was also a proud grandfather to Tucker Heath of Fernandina Beach, FL. He is also survived by a niece, Erika and four nephews, Scott, Tony, Steve, and Chris.

Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at 11 AM at Ward Wilson Funeral Home with Reverend Dewain Cooke officiating. The family will receive friends and relatives from 10 AM until service time.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Wiregrass Children’s Home at P. O. Box 6813, Dothan, AL  36302 or to Felines Under Rescue at P. O. Box 1788, Dothan, AL 36302.
