Charles Hubert “Buddy” Riley, of Skipperville, passed away Friday, July 15, 2016 at Noland Hospital in Dothan. He was 84.


Memorial services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday at Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Tim Sewell officiating and Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends from 10:30-11:00 a.m. Monday morning at the funeral home.


In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the church or charity of your choice.


Charles was born August 26, 1931 to Elijah and Lottie Griggs Riley in Dale County where he lived his entire life. He graduated from Dale County High School in 1948 and soon joined the Air Force serving his country during the Korean War era. He retired after 35 years from Civil Service at Fort Rucker as an electronic technician. Charles was a life-long member of Morgan Baptist Church. He was one of the church’s oldest members and served as a deacon. He was also a Mason and a Shriner. Charles was a steward of the land; he loved nature and all animals.


He was preceded in death by his parents and his youngest son, Charles Mark in 1991.


Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Helen Garner Riley of Skipperville; daughter, Sharon Riley Katsos (Kevin) of Virginia; son, Hubert Kent Riley of Skipperville; granddaughter, Eleni Riley Katsos Calderon (Carlos) of Virginia; great-grandson, Leonardo Katsos Calderon of Virginia; one sister, Sarah Helen Phillips of Prattville; and two sisters-in-law, Rena Thompson of Alpine and Lurelle Watson of Skipperville.


The family would like to express their deep appreciation of every person who touched Charles’s life in so many different ways on his journey home.
