DOTHAN…Charles Lavon Anderson, a former resident of Madrid, died early Monday morning, October 27, 2014, in Westside Terrace. He was 85.

            Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, October 30, 2014, in the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel with Minister Bill Watkins officiating. Burial will follow in the Madrid Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Wednesday at the mortuary in Headland.

            Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Gentiva Hospice, P.O. Drawer 2127, Dothan, AL 36302.

            Mr. Anderson was a native of Blue Springs, Alabama, son of the late Maxie Lee Anderson and Ludie Murl Spivey Anderson. He moved to Madrid in 1942 where he lived most of his lifetime. He was a member of the Enon Church of Christ, near Ashford. Mr. Anderson served his country in the U.S. Navy. He retired as a general manager from the Enron Corporation. In earlier years, he was employed by various L.P. Gas Companies in Alabama, Florida, Georgia and South Carolina. Mr. Anderson was preceded in death by his wives, Robbie Phillips Anderson and Sue Daniel Anderson.

            Surviving relatives include two daughters, Barbara Rash (Ricky), Tallahassee, FL; and  Anna Lewis (Mark), Carmel, IN; three sons, Danny Charles Anderson (Linda), Danbury, CT; Phil Anderson (Connie), Southaven, MS; Michael A. Anderson (Kathy), Dothan; a sister, Lagara Reese, Madrid, seven grandchildren, Catherine Cravey (Jason), William Anderson (Denise), Amanda Johnson (John David), Jake Anderson, Chad Rash, Amber Lewis, and Cole Lewis (Lana); fourteen great-grandchildren.
