Mr. Charles Rick Messer of Cottondale, Fla. passed away suddenly on Friday, April 15, 2016.  He was 60.  Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, April 18, 2016, in the chapel of Pittman Funeral Home in Geneva.  Burial will follow at Beulah Anna Baptist Church Cemetery with Pittman Funeral Home of Geneva directing.  The family will receive friends prior to the service on Monday, beginning at 1:00 p.m.

Rick was born in Pensacola, Fla. on March 21, 1956, the late Charles Franklin and Juanita Spears Messer.  He worked as a brick mason.  In his pastime he loved to raise goats, hunt and fish.  He was preceded in death by his brother, Doug Messer. 

He is survived by his son, Jeremy Messer (Jennifer) of Pensacola; sister, Diane Edwards (Bud); nephew, Bud Edwards (Kerrianne); niece, Tracy Hagan (Clark); three great-nephews, Hunter Edwards, Jascee Edwards and Payton Carnley, all of Grand Ridge, FL; and a family friend, Lauri.
