Christine M. Smith of Geneva passed away on Monday, April 17, 2017. She was 91. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 20, 2017, in the chapel of Pittman Funeral Home in Geneva with Brother Bob Cox officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Pittman Funeral Home of Geneva directing. The family will receive friends prior to the service on Thursday, beginning at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Hacoda Baptist Church Building Fund, 4196 State Highway 54, Kinston, AL 36453.


Mrs. Smith was born in North Carolina on July 15, 1925 to the late Marcheston and Abbie Matthews McPhail. She was a member of Hacoda Baptist Church. Prior to her retirement, she worked for Civil Service for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty years, George W. Smith; and five of her siblings.


She is survived by four daughters, Gerilyn Schmidt of Virginia, Judy Fallin of Houston, TX, Gail Bober (James) of Ridgeville, Ohio and Carol Cox (Bob) of Geneva; four sons, Dr. D. Ray Johnson (Susan) of Andersonville, TN, James Robert “Bobby” Johnson (Melissa) of North Myrtle Beach, SC, Kevin Smith of Beria, OH and Bryan Smith (Amanda) of Roanoke, TX; twenty grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and a sister, Willadean Stevenson of Fayetteville, NC.
