Clara Belle Collins Cosby

Clara was born March 24, 1932 to Arthur and Emma Collins.  She was the middle child of five.  She passed away April 9, 2017 at her home in Ashford after a long illness.  She was 85 years old. She was surrounded by her loved ones.

Clara was married to the love of her life, Earl Cosby, on December 17, 1949 celebrating 67 years this past December.

Home going services will be held Wednesday, April 12^th at Antioch Baptist Church on Rocky Creek Rd in Ashford, AL.  Visitation will be 12:30-1:30 pm and funeral at 1:30.  Burial will follow in the Ashford City Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be grandsons & great-grandsons, nephew Tim Sutton, family friends Jimmy Dupree and Vann Etheridge.  Honorary pallbearers will be great-grand sons, nephews Teddy and Tim Jordan, John Sutton, Jonathan, David and Bobby Collins, Carl, Willis, Jerry and Ladon Cosby.

Clara loved her church family at Antioch Baptist Church where she was a member of the Sr. Adult Sunday School Class and loved singing in the choir.  She taught the youth Sunday School class for many years.  She also enjoyed attending special events with her daughter at Ashford United Church.

Clara worked for many years at Wex Tex in Ashford and Sony in Dothan where she made many lifelong friends.

Survivors include her husband, Earl Cosby, sons, Dennis (Lisa) Cosby, Danny (Amber) Cosby, Donnie Cosby and daughter Gloria (Richard) Robertson, grandchildren, Chris (Heather) Robertson, Kyle (Christal) Robertson, Collin Robertson, Chase (Kylie) Etress, great-grandchildren, Tyler Fowler, Miley, Eli and Gunner Robertson and Jocelyn Etress and Special Friend Ms. Jean Aman.

She was predeceased by her mama, Emma Snell Collins, her mother, Mary (Mae) Davis Collins, her father, Arthur Collins, brother, Malon Collins and daughters-in-law, Cathy Trawick Cosby and Lawanna Parker Cosby.

 The family would like to express our love and appreciation to mother’s Alacare caregivers Heather & Tresa and the many others who came to help.

Family will be accepting flowers.
