Clara Jean Brooks Bell, 81, of Dothan, Alabama, went home to be with the Lord on November 30, 2015, after a brief battle with cancer.

 

Funeral services will be held at 1 P.M. Thursday, December 3, 2015 at the Ward Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Roger Bell officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Cemetery with Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing.

 

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 to 7 P.M. Wednesday, December 2, 2015.

 

Mrs. Bell, a native of Samson, was a member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church of Dothan. She was privileged to teach ladies’ Sunday School classes for over thirty-five years. She loved the Lord, her family, and studying and teaching the Word of God.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, L.C. and Susie Brooks; four sisters, Jewel Wise, Mildred Stinson, Evelyn Tew, and Mary Dykema; four brothers, Ben Brooks, Wyman Brooks, Roy Brooks, and Bryant Brooks.

 

She is survived by her husband, Gerald D. Bell of Dothan; a daughter, Cheryl Stokes (Ronnie) Sanders of Dothan; a son, Roger (Amy) Bell of Moore, South Carolina; a sister, Elaine Stokes of Goshen; three grandchildren, Brian (Liz) Sanders, Daniel Bell, and Kaitlyn Bell; two great-grandchildren, Sawyer Sanders and Bennett Sanders.

 

The family would like to express their gratitude to the compassionate nurses of Covenant Hospice, and to Cathryn Grimsley for their care and support.

 

The family will accept flowers, or contributions may be made to Ridgecrest Baptist Church Building Fund.
