Claxton Chalmers Hornsby, age 91, of Old Tabernacle community, passed away, Wednesday, September 17, 2014 in a Dothan Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, September 20, 2014 at El Bethel Assembly of God Church with Rev. Stephen Comer and Rev. Eddie Crutchfield officiating. Burial will follow in Old Tabernacle Cemetery with Searcy Funeral Home and Crematory directing. The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday from 11:00 A.M. until service time. In Lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Old Tabernacle Cemetery fund, 8992 Hwy. 51, New Brockton, AL 36351 or to El Bethel Assembly of God Church, 11629 Hwy 51, New Brockton, AL 36351.

Mr. Hornsby was preceded in death by his wife, Norma Nell (Buchie) Dismukes Hornsby, six brothers and three sisters.

Survivors include two sons, Larry Hornsby (Dee) Montgomery; Randy Hornsby, Pace, FL; sister, Dot Tindol, New Brockton; brothers, Allen Hornsby, Dothan; Arthur Hornsby, New Brockton; special friend, Ella Jean Vaughan, Elba; two granddaughters, Hayley Surles (Michael) Montgomery; Christy Vick (Joshua) Pike Road; three great-grandchildren, Taylor Anne and Tanner Surles and Anna Leigh Vick.

Serving as pallbearers will be Jim Bowman, Jim Diamond, Max Downing, Larry Edgar, Donnie Stevens and Keith Baker.
