NEWVILLE. . .Cody Ashton Jenkins, a resident of Newville, died Wednesday afternoon, July 27, 2016, at his home. He was 15.


            Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Saturday, July 30, 2016, in the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel with Reverend Don Clark and Reverend Danny Bynum officiating. Burial will follow in the Concord Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 3:00 P.M. Saturday at the mortuary in Headland.


            Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Rainbow Meadows “Youth Group”, 3480 Napier Field Road, Dothan, AL. 36303.


            Cody Jenkins was a native of the Concord community and also formerly lived in Virginia Beach, Virginia before returning to Henry County in 2012. He was a member of the Junior Class of Headland High School where he received two Presidential Awards for academic excellence. Cody attended the National Science and Technology Leadership Congress in Boston, Massachusetts and was a member of the Torch & Laurel National Honor Society. During football season, he served as the video recorder for the Headland High School football team. Cody was a member of the Concord Baptist Church and attended Rainbow Meadows Baptist Church in Dothan.


            Surviving relatives include his mother, Lydia Mulkey Gordon and step-father, Jay Deneil Gordon, Newville; his father, Richard Jenkins and step-mother, Jamie Jenkins, Taylor, Alabama; grandparents, James and Lillian Mulkey, Newville; Sara Hodges, Headland; Dee Gordon, Newville; three step-sisters, Jenissa Gordon, Brunswick, GA; Gracie Adkinson, and Mary Morgan Adkinson, both of Taylor, AL; three step-brothers, Benjamin Gordon and Christopher Gordon, both of Brunswick, GA; and Pack Adkinson, Taylor, AL; several aunts, uncles and cousins.


            Serving as active pallbearers will be Richard Campbell, Buford Kimbrel, Jerrad Bryant, Grady Bryant, Jerry Deal and Scott Chatham. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be the Rainbow Meadows Youth Group and the Headland High School Football Team.

I'm sorry for your tragic loss. I myself have a 14 year old daughter that is handicapped. I saw what you posted on Rickey Stokes. Only words I can say is that God only gives us his Angels for a short period of time until he decides to call them home like he did yours. I hope in the coming days you will find peace.
