ABBEVILLE. . .Connie Grimes Clenney, a resident of Abbeville, died Sunday night, February 5, 2017, in the Southeast Alabama Medical Center in Dothan. She was 67.

            Celebration of Life Services will be held at a later date. Holman-Abbeville Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements.

            Mrs. Clenney was a native of Opp, Alabama and was reared in Phenix City, Alabama, daughter of the late J. C. Grimes and Sara Lou Jackson Grimes. She was a 1968 graduate of Central High School in Phenix City. Mrs. Clenney lived most of her lifetime in Phenix City before moving to Thomas Mill Creek on Lake Eufaula in 1998. She was formerly employed by Columbus Bank & Trust (Synovus) in Columbus, GA. Mrs. Clenney was preceded in death by her husband, John Harvey Clenney, and two sisters, Shelia Grimes and Patricia Culverhouse.

            Surviving relatives include a daughter, Angie Hughes, Eufaula; two sisters, Juanette Whited (James), Cloverdale, Indiana; and Paulette Moore (Harry), Valley, Alabama; a step-granddaughter, Alexandria Clenney, Montgomery, AL; numerous nieces and nephews that she dearly loved and many close friends that were like family to her.
