CW4 (Ret) Duman Ray French, 85, of Daleville, AL passed away peacefully at his home in Daleville, AL surrounded by his family on Monday, January 18, 2016. 


Funeral services will be 10:30 am, Thursday, January 21, 2016 at Searcy Funeral Home Chapel in Daleville, AL with honors with Reverend Larry Harrison officiating.  Visitation will be Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at the funeral home in Daleville, from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm.  The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to the A.M. Windham Elementary School Library Fund at 200 Heritage Drive, Daleville, AL 36322.


Mr. French was a Vietnam veteran and retired from the U.S. Army, after 33 years of service to his country.  Mr. French served multiple overseas tours during his career, in Austria, Germany and Korea.  After his retirement from the U.S. Army, Mr. French worked for Northrup Gruman and Daleville City Schools as a much beloved bus driver and band supporter.  


Survivors include his wife, Doris Marie (Bates) French; daughter, Janet Kay (French) Gomes (Ronald II), Daleville, AL; son, Philip Ray French (Jennifer), Daleville, AL; four grandchildren, Ronald L. Gomes, III (Takreem), Bogart, GA; Sabrina L. (Gomes) Willis (Jesse), Savannah, GA; Mark A. French, Daleville, AL; Michelle E. (French) Cazalas (Joshua), Madison, AL; four great-grandchildren, Jade A. Gomes, Amber J. Gomes, James D. Horton and Sophia M. Horton.
