Mr. David Dewell Catrett of Samson, Alabama passed away Sunday, April 7, 2013.  He was 79.


Funeral services will be 2:00 Wednesday, April 10, in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home in Geneva with Rev. Woodie Dupree officiating.  Burial will follow in the Fairview Baptist Church Cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home of Geneva directing.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday, April 9, from 6 until 8 p.m.


Mr. Catrett was born August 25, 1933 in Coffee County to the late Reuben James and Allie Mae Cardwell Catrett.  He enjoyed playing the guitar and harmonica and was known for being able to “fix anything” at any time.  Mr. Catrett was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.  He was a member of Living Waters Church.


In addition to his parents, two brothers, John Frank and James Reuben Catrett, as well as four sisters, Odessa Carter, Jimmie Nell Moore and two infants, all preceded him in death.


Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Delores Voncile Murphy Catrett; one son, Tony Catrett, both of Samson; one daughter, Rose Marie Browning (Nathan), Lewisville, TX; two sisters: Pat Bracewell of Samson and Dorothy Rivera of Dothan; six grandchildren: Nathan Catrett (Toni), Curtis Catrett (Angela), Luke Browning, Jared Browning (Leah), Trevor Browning and Cleve Browning (Julie); nine great-grandchildren: Ethan, Keely, Skylar, Ian and Kyrie Catrett, Ethan and Tyler Owens, Jacob and Cooper Browning; several nieces, nephews, other extended family and friends.


His six grandsons’ will serve as pallbearers.
