Mr. David Jewell Cardwell of County Road 21, Geneva, Alabama passed away Tuesday, June 30, 2015.  He was 73.


Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 3, 2015, in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home in Geneva with Rev. Richard Lawson and Rev. Greg Summerlin officiating.  Burial will follow in the Fairview Baptist Church Cemetery in Elba with Sorrells Funeral Home and Crematory of Geneva directing.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday, July 2, 2015 from 6 until 8 p.m.


Mr. Cardwell was born October 6, 1941, in Geneva County to the late William Dennis and Mary Annie Johnson Cardwell.  For a number of years he was employed with Revels Farm Dairy.  He enjoyed the farm life, listening to gospel music and reading the Bible.  He was a very loving and devoted father and grandfather and a member of The Apostolic Lighthouse Church.


In addition to his parents, his wife, Dorothy Mae Cardwell, and three grandchildren, Justin and Hope Kirkland and Tiffany Cardwell, preceded him in death.


Survivors include five daughters: Debbie Kirkland (Jeff) of Geneva, Brenda Lawson (Richard) of Coffee Springs, Teresa Summerlin (Greg), Sandra Bradshaw and Pamela Tidwell Cardwell, all of Geneva; three sons: James Earl Cardwell (Tonya) of Geneva, David Cardwell (Estella) and Robert Cardwell (Juanita), all of Laredo, TX; two sisters: Lottie Tidwell (Palmer) of Geneva, and Versie Brewer of Opp; two brothers: James William Cardwell and Robert Cardwell, both of Geneva; 18 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; other extended family and friends.
