MIDLAND CITY. . .David Lavon “Von” Wright, a resident of Midland City, died Tuesday morning, April 12, 2016, in the emergency room of a Dothan hospital. He was 71.

            Funeral services will be held at 4:00 P.M. Thursday, April 14, 2016, in the Midland City Baptist Church with Dr. David Coggins officiating. Burial will follow in the Midland City Cemetery. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Wednesday at the mortuary in Headland .

            Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Midland City Baptist Church, P.O. Box 694, Midland City, AL 36350.

            Von Wright was a lifelong resident of Midland City, son of the late David Andrew Wright and Nettie Lou Sims Wright. He was a member of the Midland City Baptist Church. In earlier years, Von attended the Talladega School For the Blind. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Demp Wright and Richard Wright.

            Surviving relatives include two sisters, Glenda Hoffman, Midland City; and Jane Besecker (Ted), Jacksonville, FL; two brothers, Lomax “Max” Wright, Byron, GA; and Doyle Wright (Pam), Headland; several nieces and nephews.

            Serving as active pallbearers will be Shane Wright, Derek Wright, Dr. Clay Wright, Garvin Hoffman, Clint Wright, and John Cawley.
