MIDLAND CITY…Donald D. Henderson, a resident of Midland City, died Wednesday afternoon, October 22, 2014, in a Dothan hospital. He was 73.


            Funeral services will be held at 4:00 P.M. Saturday, October 25, 2014, in the Sylvan Grove United Methodist Church, with Dr. Jerry M. Dooling officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Holman-Headland Mortuary directing. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Friday at the mortuary in Headland.


            Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Sylvan Grove United Methodist Church, c/o Wyndle Enfinger, 3991 County Road 73, Midland City, AL 36350.


            A native of Coffee County, Mr. Henderson lived in Eufaula and Columbus, GA before moving to Midland City in 1963. He was retired from Clark Construction as a Project Manager and was formerly employed with Chambless-Killingsworth Architectural Firm in Montgomery, as a Project Manager/Inspector.


            Mr. Henderson was a member of the Sylvan Grove United Methodist Church and formerly served as Chairman of the Board, Sunday School Superintendent, and was involved with other committees in the church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse Lee Henderson and Aree Thrower Henderson, and his step-mother, Lillian Davis Henderson.


            Surviving relatives include his wife of fifty-four years, Geraldine Ackerman Henderson, Midland City; a daughter, Lisa O’Neal (K.O.), Dothan; a son, Keith Henderson, Midland City; a sister, Faye Davis (Jack), Ft. Mitchell, AL; five grandchildren, Stacey, Zackery, Charlye, Jerod and Lacey; four great-grandchildren, Logan, Landon, Hudson and Elijah; sister-in-law, Shirley Woodham (Ricky), Midland City and special lifelong friends, Tommy and Nell Bassett, Cowarts.


            Serving as active pallbearers will be Sonny Thompson, Ray Thompson, Bobby Marshall, Don Bassett, Jack Amberson, Tommy Dolar, Bob Jenkins and Brent Marshall.


            Honorary pallbearers will be the Dothan National Golf Group and Tommy Bassett.
