Donald Gene Everett, 61, of Pinckard passed away Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at a local hospital.


Funeral services will be 2 pm Friday, May 10, 2013 at Sunset Funeral Home with Rev. Roger Stone officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm Thursday at the funeral home.


Donald Gene was born March 14, 1952 in Houston County and lived the early part of his life in Pinckard. He was a 1970 graduate of Dale County High School where he played football. He was employed with Rhodes Furniture as a credit manager for over 30 years until his retirement in 2006. He resided in Atlanta, GA prior to returning to Pinckard and has been working with his brother Kenneth Everett. He was of the Baptist faith. Donald Gene will be greatly missed by his family and friends and especially by his canine companion, his little buddy Hershey. He was preceded in death by his parents John Bryant and Mamie Everett; his sister, Ruby Nell Park; his brother, Charlie Wade Everett and a niece Cristine Elaine Everett; his father-in-law, Paul L. Shipes.


Survivors include his wife Donna Everett; step-sons, Derick Stevens and Devan Stevens; step-grandchildren, Jackson Stevens, Sawyer Stevens, and Bailey Stevens; brothers, Paul (Anne) Everett, Kenneth (Linda) Everett, Larry (Janice) Everett, Randall Everett, Terry (Linda) Everett, and Rodney (Lucy) Everett; a sister Sue E. (Ronald) Hughes; mother-in-law JoAnn Shipes; a brother-in-law Steve (Cathy) Shipes; several nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews also survive.
