Doris Calhoun was born June 16, 1925 to Garthell and Anna Lee (Hall) Barfield. Doris passed away on April 6, 2016 at her residence with her grandson at her side.

 

Graveside services will be held at 10 A.M. Friday, April 8, 2016 at Eastside Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery with Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing. 

Doris is preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, Floyd Walter Calhoun, son Tommy Floyd Calhoun, and five brothers and two sisters.

 

Doris is survived by her daughter, Deborah (Calhoun) Hughes, special grandson, Jeffrey Walter Love (Pam), two very special great grandchildren Jeffrey Hunter Love and Makenzie Lea Love; special nephews, Joel and Rickey Barfiled; specials nieces, Judy Brooks, Betty Hall, and Faye Smith; special friend: Roseann Owen, and lots of family and friends.

 

A very special thank you to Patty and Linda from Gentiva Hospice Care.

 

Doris was a hardworking, and caring person. She loved working in her flower beds, talking on the phone, and cooking for people. Doris was very well known in her community for her beautiful flowers. But her most prized possession was her grandson Jeff who she loved more than life. Jeff could bring a smile to her face and heart. Also she had two very special great grandchildren Hunter and Makenzie Love who were also her world.

 

In lieu of flowers please make contributions to Gentiva Hospice, 2740 Headland Ave, Dothan, AL.

Pallbearers will be Jeff Love, Hunter Love, Augest Cochran, Alex Cameron, Joseph Love.
