TEXASVILLE. . .Dorothy Lucille Smith, a resident of Texasville, died Thursday morning, September 3, 2015, at the home of a niece, Charlotte Riley, in Headland. She was 84.


            Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, September 5, 2015, in the Holman-Abbeville Mortuary Chapel with Reverend Ricky Sowell officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, near Abbeville. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. Saturday at the mortuary in Abbeville.


            Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Covenant Hospice, 104 Rock Bridge Road, Dothan, AL 36303.


            Dorothy Smith was born and reared in Henry County, near Abbeville, daughter of the late William Shellie Smith and Mary Trawick Smith. Miss Smith formerly lived in the Edwin and Wills Crossroads Communities before moving to Texasville in 1988. Dorothy was a member of the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by five sisters, Lucy Mae Smith, Hettie Hutto, Willodean Bush, Carolyn Wills and Katherine Wilkinson, and four brothers, Marvin Smith, Ernest Smith, Edward Smith and William (Bill) Smith.


            Surviving relatives include two sisters, Inez Bailey, Abbeville, and Bobbie Sue Westbrook (Mack), Texasville, as well as many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.


            Serving as active pallbearers will be Floyd Smith, Adam Riley, Donald Westbrook, Ray Bailey, Craig Price, and Ricky Wilkinson.
