Mrs. Dorothy E. Parrish, a lifelong resident of Enterprise, died peacefully on Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at Chautauqua Nursing Home in Defuniak Springs, Florida.  She was 91.

Funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, June 13 in the Chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home and Crematory of Enterprise with Hospice Chaplain J. Chris Adams officiating and Doug Barnes delivering the eulogy.  A private graveside service will follow in Enterprise City Cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home and Crematory of Enterprise directing.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2:00 until service time.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Enterprise Public Library, 101 E Grubbs Street, Enterprise, AL 36330.

Mrs. Parrish was born April 12, 1923, in Coffee County, to the late Henry and Mattie Pearl Folsom Edgar.  She served as a public librarian for more than 20 years.  She was also a charter member of Hillcrest Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, her husband, John B. Parrish, and her daughter, Lisa Lea Parrish preceded her in death.

Survivors include one daughter: Jan Dixon (Emmett) of Geneva, AL; 2 sons: Joe Parrish (Martha) of Enterprise, AL and Dr. Ben Parrish (Jennie) of Hoover, AL; 8 grandchildren: Kerri Griffin of Black, AL, Ben Griffin (Dawn) of Geneva, AL, Glen Griffin (Heather) of Chancellor, AL, Shayna Marsteller (Mark) of Crestview, FL, Christa (Kris) Ahrens of Richmond Hills, GA, Marc Parrish of Birmingham, AL, Richie Parrish of Birmingham, AL, and Hannah Parrish of Birmingham, AL; 10 great-grandchildren; and 1 sister-in-law:  Pauline Edgar of New Brockton, AL.
