Dr. Robert Douglas Jackson, 55, passed away Wednesday afternoon, November 19, 2014, at Holmes Regional Hospital in Melbourne, Florida from complications from injuries sustained in a traffic accident on February 27th, 2014.  Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 25, 2014 in the chapel of Pittman Funeral Home in Geneva with Rev. Nathan Carroll officiating.  Burial will follow at Providence United Methodist Church Cemetery with Pittman Funeral Home of Geneva directing.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday beginning at 1:00 p.m.  

Dr. Jackson was born on January 27th, 1959 in Huntsville, Alabama and graduated from the University of Louisville School of Dentistry in 1984.  He had a very successful dental practice in Sarasota, Florida for 30 years.  He loved playing golf, deep sea fishing and was an avid Florida and Alabama football fan. He was dearly loved and respected by his family and friends and his Christianity, caring for others and personal generosity were always evident.  Doug was a very hard worker and a confident man of many talents who would not hesitate to tackle just about any task worth doing.

He was predeceased by his father, Dr. Charles W. Jackson, and survivors include his mother, Bobbie Jean Jackson, a brother, Charles W. Jackson, Jr., a sister-in-law, Sherri L. Jackson, and two nieces, Melissa and Lilly Jackson all of Melbourne, Florida.  Special thanks goes to Kathy Knowles from Port Charlotte, Florida, Doug's significant other, who was his guardian angel throughout his lengthy illness as well as several years prior. She has been there for him every step of the way and made his pain so much more bearable when he would really get down.
