Edward S. Clontz



Edward S. Clontz, (GySgt, USMC, Ret.), a resident of Lillian, AL, previously of Dothan, died Wednesday, June 5, 2013.


Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. Sunday, June 9, 2013 at Byrd Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Cemetery with Byrd Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends from 2-3 p.m. Sunday prior to the service. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Shriners International, 2900 Rocky Point Dr., Tampa, FL 33607.


Mr. Clontz was born August 25, 1934 in New Kensington, PA. He grew up in Dothan and was a graduate of Dothan High School. He was always talking about being a Marine. He served as a proud Marine for 22 years and retired as a Gunnery Sgt. He was a member of the Fleet Reserve, the Marine Corps League, and the American Legion. Mr. Clontz was of the Catholic faith.


He is predeceased by his parents, Ernest & Margaret Clontz.


Survivors include a son, Edward S. Clontz, II; a daughter, Stacy Ann Beal; a sister, Constance R. Synco; and four nephews, Duane, Steven, Earnest, and Edward Stork.
