EFFIE  LETA  MOBLEY


SHORTERVILLE…Effie Leta Mobley, a resident of the Barnes Community of Henry County, died Thursday afternoon, April 18, 2013, at her home. She was 95.


            Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, April 20, 2013, in the Haleburg Cemetery with Reverend Tony Rosetta officiating. Holman-Abbeville Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. Saturday in the sanctuary of the Haleburg United Methodist Church.


            In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Haleburg United Methodist Church, c/o Dr. Ray Arnold, 5614 County Road 71, Shorterville, AL 36373.


            Miss Mobley was born and reared in the Barnes Community of Henry County, daughter of the late Perryman Fluker Mobley, Sr. and Lela Carter Mobley. She was a graduate of the Southeast Secondary Agricultural School in Abbeville and received a degree in Elementary Education from Troy Normal College in 1947, now Troy University.  As a young adult, Miss Mobley taught school in the Barnes and Shorterville Schools, the Abbeville Elementary School, and in the Albany City School System. She retired in 1986 as an Elementary School Teacher at Girard Elementary School in Dothan after forty-two years teaching the first and second grades. Miss Mobley lived in the Barnes Community most of her lifetime and had also lived in Dothan while teaching school. She was an active member of the Haleburg United Methodist Church and the Arthritis Foundation. Miss Mobley was preceded in death by a sister, Irene Mobley Kirby, and a brother, Perryman Fluker Mobley, Jr.


            Surviving relatives include a sister-in-law, Rose Ezzell Mobley; a niece, Marlene Mobley Arnold and husband, Dr. Ray Arnold; a nephew, Dr. Perry F. Mobley, III and wife, Charlotte; a great-nephew, Perry F. Mobley, IV and wife, Jennifer; a great-niece, Paige Mobley Watson and husband, Brandon; great-great nieces and great-great nephews, Harlan and Ellie Grace Mobley; Hayes and Hadley Watson.


            Serving as active pallbearers will be Perry Mobley, IV, Brandon Watson, Jimmy Mobley, John Mobley, Harlan Mobley, and Jason Cooper.
