ETHLYN  NOWELL  BELL



HEADLAND…Ethlyn Nowell Bell, a former resident of Headland, died early Friday morning, December 14, 2012, in the Extendicare Health & Rehabilitation Center in Dothan. She was 101.


            Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, December 15, 2012, in the Holman Headland Mortuary Chapel with Elder Charles Roling officiating. Burial will follow in the Piney Grove Primitive Baptist Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. Saturday at the mortuary in Headland.


            In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Union Primitive Baptist Church, c/o Judy Conner, 90 Deese-Conner Road, Kinsey, AL 36303.


            Mrs. Bell was born and reared in Headland, daughter of the late Robert Lee Nowell and Minnie Arnold Nowell. She was a member the Union Primitive Baptist Church and was formerly employed by J.C. Penney in Dothan and Palmer’s in Headland as a salesperson. In later years, Mrs. Bell was employed by Wex-Tex Mfg. Co. in Headland. She lived in Headland most of her adult lifetime before moving to Extendicare in 2009. Mrs. Bell was preceded in death by her husbands, John William Howard Bell and Ivey Adkins, a sister, Caroline Redding, and two brothers, R.J. Nowell and Arnold Nowell.


            Surviving relatives include her son, Winfred Bell and wife, Hettie, Malone, FL; three grandchildren, James Russell Bell, William Rodney Bell, and Dewayne Bell; five great-grandchildren, and several great-great-grandchildren.
