On Sunday, August 2, 2015, Evelyn Norris Spivey, surrounded by her family, died peacefully at home.. She was 83. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 6, 2015 at Lime Springs United Methodist Church with Rev. Chuck Myers and Rev. John Wesley Spivey officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Pittman Funeral Home of Samson directing. The family will receive friends at the church on Thursday beginning at 9:00 a.m.  In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial contributions be made to: Lime Springs United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, 145 State Hwy 153, Samson, AL 36477.  

Evelyn was born on January 18, 1932 to the late Hollis and Lala Geohagan Norris. One of eight brothers and sisters including; Leola Maddox (D), Lelon Norrs,(D),  Gladys Adkison, Hubert Norris, Thomas Norris (D), Bobby Sue Jackson,  and Mattie Hancock.  She was wife, widow and homemaker of Luther Spivey, whom she married on March 3, 1951.

She was survived by her 3 children; Deborah Ainsworth (Bob) of Clinton, MS; Stan Spivey of Samson; Jeff Spivey (Kim) of Daphne, AL.   Eleven grandchildren:  Joy Jenkins (Tyson); Kelly Vickers (Mason); Chase Nix (Will); Amanda Jackson (Justin), Malia; one grandson Luke Spivey.  Also she is survived by 8 great-grandchildren:  Tyler, Aden, Isabella, Lane, Ryleigh, Collin, Drew, and Peyton.
