DOTHAN…Evelyn Vanarah Kelly Bowling, a resident of Dothan, died Thursday night, June 06, 2013, in a Dothan hospital. She was 82.


            Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Sunday, June 09, 2013, in the Southside Baptist Church with Reverend Kenneth Harrison and Dr. Jerry Grandstaff officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory, between Headland and Dothan. Holman-Headland Mortuary is in charge of funeral arrangements. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 P.M. Sunday in the church sanctuary.


            Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Wiregrass Humane Society, P.O. Box 1045, Dothan, AL 36302 or to a favorite local charity.


            Mrs. Bowling was born and reared in Headland and lived in Dothan most of her lifetime. She was an active member of the Southside Baptist Church. Mrs. Bowling was formerly employed by South Oates Piggly Wiggly and First Alabama Bank. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dorman V. (Shorty) Bowling; her father, Taft Kelly; her mother, Thelma Lewis Kelly Pitts; and her step-father, Jesse F. Pitts, who reared her from an early age.


            Surviving relatives include two sons, Danny Bowling and wife, Patsy Free Bowling; Donny Bowling and wife, Kathy Bowling, all of Dothan; a sister, Janice Folkes and husband, Charles, Fairhope, AL; five grandchildren, Tiffany Skipper (Mike), Hillary Oliver (Angel), Jesse Bowling, Mixon Bowling (Sharon), Katie Barrentine (Daniel); seven great-grandchildren.
