NEWVILLE….Forrest M. Brunson, Jr., a resident of Newville, died Saturday night, April 30, 2016, in a Dothan hospital. He was 78.


            Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, May 3, 2016, in the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel with Pastor Scott Wyatt officiating. Graveside services, with military honors, will follow in the Concord Baptist Church Cemetery, near Headland. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. Tuesday at the mortuary.


            Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Alabama Mission to Mexico, 111 Baltusrol Avenue, Eufaula, AL 36027.


            Mr. Brunson, son of the late Forrest Mckenzie Brunson, Sr. and Phyllis Franklin Brunson, was born in San Diego, CA and was reared in various locations in the United States and overseas while his father served in the U.S. Navy. At an early age, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and also served in the U. S. Army before enlisting in the United States Air Force where he served his country in the Vietnam War. Mr. Brunson was retired from the State of Georgia Highway Department as a Maintenance Foreman. He lived in Georgetown, Georgia before moving to the Concord community of Henry County in 2003.  His hobby was antique vehicles. Mr. Brunson was a member of the Harmony Lodge No. 46 in Eufaula. Mr. Brunson was preceded in death by his sister, Emily Brabham.


            Survivors include his wife, Arlene Tew Thompson, Newville; a daughter, Christine Jernigan (Kevin), Eufaula; a son, John Brunson (Cindy), Troy; five step-daughters, Carol Singleton (Curtis), Newville; Brenda Walker (Bill Ogletree), Georgetown, GA; Clara Boutwell (Jerome), New Brockton; Diane Sterling (Ed), Newville; and Amber Walker; two step-sons, Keith Walker (Connie), and Kevin Walker, both of Eufaula; a sister, Christine Grace Brand, Jackson’s Gap, AL; a brother, Charlie Brunson, Dadeville, AL; a granddaughter, Ashley Brunson; ten step-grandchildren; fifteen step-greatgrandchildren.
