Francis Alexander Collins III
On Friday, October 25, 2013, Francis Alexander Collins III, known to his family and friends as "Fran", went to be with Jesus at the age of 67.
The family will receive friends at 10 a.m. on Monday, October 28, 2013 at Harvest Church. The Celebration of Life Service will follow at 11 AM at Harvest Church with Rev. Ralph Sigler and Rev. Roy Rogers officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Harvest Church, 2727 Fortner St., Dothan, AL 36305.
Born in Hartford, Alabama on January 12, 1946, in his childhood home, Fran played football and graduated from Troy State University. He married his high school sweetheart, served in the National Guard and raised his family in Dothan. He worked for years all over the area as an insurance adjuster and enjoyed serving the community as a referee. Fran was an amazing “PAPA” to his four grandchildren. We will all miss his kind heart, gentle spirit and quick laugh. He was a member of Harvest Church.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Leigh Anne Collins and parents, Francis Alexander Collins, Jr. and Emma Will Collins.
He is survived by his wife, Anne Shostrom Collins; a son, Francis Alexander Collins IV "Alex" and daughter-in-law Robyn Blaikie Collins; grandchildren, Francis Alexander Collins V "Quint", Jackson, Kavi and Blaikie Collins; a brother and sister-in-law, Joe Frank and June Collins; sisters and brothers-in-law, Sharon and Charles Turner, Sheila Lane and Donna and Buddy Sims; many beloved nieces and nephews also survive.
