Fred Wesley Whatley
Fred Wesley Whatley of Headland, passed away Thursday, March 12, 2015. He was 77.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 14, 2015 at Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery in Headland with Reverend Norman Simmons officiating and Byrd Funeral Home directing.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bethlehem Baptist Church Building Fund, 2506 State Hwy. 134 East, Headland, AL 36345.
Mr. Whatley was born December 7, 1937 in Haleburg, AL and lived all of his life in Henry County. He was a heavy equipment operator for over 50 years and worked with various companies during his career. He was an avid gardener and shared his gardening knowledge with friends and neighbors. Mr. Whatley was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church.
He was predeceased by his parents, Johnny and Myrtle Whatley and one brother, Marvette Whatley.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Glenda Walker Whatley; son, David Fred Whatley; and daughters, April McKnight and her husband Mark and Kim Michelle Whatley, all of Headland; one grandson, Joshua Mark McKnight of Atlanta, GA; brother, John Arthur Whatley; sister, Betty Jean Arnold and her husband Wallace, all of Headland; and several nieces and nephews.
