Gene Crutchfield


            Mr. Gene Crutchfield, 79, of Enterprise, AL died on Friday, April 11, 2014, after a lengthy illness.


            Funeral services will be 11 am, Monday, April 14, 2014 at Searcy Funeral Home and Crematory Chapel with Rev. Sonny Moore officiating.  Burial will follow in Meadowlawn cemetery with Searcy Funeral Home directing.  The family will receive friends from 9:30 am until service time on Monday at the funeral home.  The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund, 302 N Main Street, Enterprise, AL, 36330 or to the SOS Animal Shelter, 25944 Hwy 134, Enterprise, AL 36330.


            Gene was a member of the First Baptist Church of Enterprise.  He served in the Air Force for 5 years and the National Guard for 20 years.  He attended Bradley University in Peoria, IL, where he played basketball and Troy University.  Gene also played semi-pro football with the Dothan Colts and Triple A baseball for the St. Louis Cardinals.   


            Survivors include his wife, Anita Crutchfield, Enterprise, AL; daughter, Audra Crutchfield, New Haven, CT; 2 sons, Clay Crutchfield, Enterprise, AL, Charlie Crutchfield, Birmingham, AL; sister, Jerlon Godwin, Enterprise, AL; brother, Bill Crutchfield (Norma), Ward, AR; brother-in-law, Bill Pittman (Bess), West Point, GA; granddaughters, Lauren and Lindsey Crutchfield, Enterprise, AL.


            The family greatly appreciates the care by the staff of Medical Center Enterprise and especially to Dr. Bill Reynolds, Dr. Rick Harrelson and Dr. Roger Williams.
