George E. Ray, 83, a resident of Enterprise passed away Thursday, September 18, 2014 at his residence.


Funeral services will be 2 pm Saturday, September 20, 2014 at Sunset Funeral Home with Bishop Tim Clubb officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends from 1-2 pm prior to the service at the funeral home.


Mr. Ray was born August 12, 1931 in Kentucky and lived the early part of his life there. He joined the U.S. Army at the age of 16 and served for 20 years until his retirement. He attended college in Tampa, FL where he attained his teaching certificate. Mr. Ray was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Enterprise.


Survivors include his wife Margaret Elizabeth Ray; a son Jim Ray; a daughter, Dana Lee Holmes; a granddaughter Elizabeth Woods; a great-grandson Zachary Strickland.
