MIDLAND CITY. . .George Lee Ward, a resident of Midland City, died Thursday afternoon, May 21, 2015, in the Signature HealthCare of North Florida in Graceville. He was 91.


            Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Sunday, May 24, 2015, in the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel with Reverend T.P. Martin officiating. Burial will follow in the Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery, near Brannon Stand. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 3:00 P.M. Sunday at the mortuary in Headland.
            Mr. Ward was a native of Midland City, son of the late Sterling Lee Ward and Hattie Stuckey Ward. He was a member of the Bethlehem Baptist Church. Mr. Ward was engaged in farming most of his adult lifetime. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dothie Ann Kirkland Ward, a sister, Mae Ward Hardy, and also three infant sisters, two brothers, Johnnie Spurgeon Ward and Virgil Ward.


            Surviving relatives include a daughter, Joyce Ward Brown (Raymond L.), Midland City; a son, Lee Samuel Ward (Windy), Midland City; three grandchildren, Shauna Brown Williams (Casey), Jonathan Ward (Danielle), and Joshua Ward; four great-grandchildren, Ephraim Williams, Hadassah Williams, Owen Ward, and Luke Ward; and a great-grandson to be born in September, Brian Ward; three sisters, Imogyne Ward, Midland City; Sarah Hopkins (Charles), Ashford; LouVera Andrews (J.W.), Midland City; sisters-in-law, Ruth Davis Ward, Midland City, and Hilda Ward, Dothan.


            Serving as active pallbearers will be Mark Key, Don Key, Joseph Bowman, Adam Bowman, Michael Andrews, and Jimmy Turvin.
