Mrs. Georgia Hidle Ludlum, age 59, a resident of Dothan, died Friday, April 26, 2013 at her residence following an extended illness.


 


Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 29, 2013 at the First United Methodist Church in Dothan with  Reverend Allie Freeman and Dr. James Sanders officiating.  A private family burial will follow at Memory Hill Cemetery with Kendall Glover of Glover Funeral Home directing.


 


The family will be receiving friends Monday, April 29, 2013 from 9:30 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. in the Parlor at First United Methodist Church prior to services.


 


Georgia was born on April 28, 1953 in Dothan, the daughter of George Martin Hidle, Sr. and Jerry Pritchett Woodham.  Georgia was a graduate of Geneva High School,  Wallace College Nursing Program, Auburn University, and attended the University of Alabama. She also attained her Juris Doctorate from Cumberland School of Law.  Georgia worked as a nurse for several years before she began her career as a Disability Attorney.


 


Her tenacity and strength in the face of tremendous challenge is evidenced by her pursuit of family and education, hiking 1400 miles of the Appalachian Trail from Georgia to New York , and battling a life threatening illness while leading a full and inspirational life.


 


She was preceded in death by her father, Martin Hidle, Sr.; and a nephew, George Martin Hidle, III.


 


She is survived by her husband of 32 years, Gene Ludlum, Dothan; daughter and son-in-law, Anna and William King III, Auburn; two sons, Adris Ludlum III, Auburn; Fred Morris, III, Dothan; mother, Jerry Woodham, Wewahitchca, FL.; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Renee and Bobby Lee, Dothan; Linda and John Boggs, Panama City, FL.; brother and sister-in-law, George and Julie Hidle, Ft. Lauderdale, FL.; several nieces and nephews.


 


 Serving as pallbearers are:  Laurence Pender III, Bunk Hanahan, Charlie Fleming, Charles "Jake" Paul, Fred "Newt" Morris II, Mike Gamble and Frankie Lindsey.


 


Glover Funeral Home of Dothan is in charge of the arrangements.
