Gerald D. “Jerry” Kimel of Daleville passed away on Sunday, September 20, 2015 at Flowers Hospital.  He was 72.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. Saturday, September 26, 2015 at Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory of Enterprise.  Burial with full military honors will follow at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Jerry may be made to Covenant Hospice, 104 Rock Bridge Road, Dothan, AL 36303.

Jerry was born July 27, 1943, in Detroit, Michigan, to the late John and Freida Mitchell Kimel.  He retired from the United States Army after twenty years, during which time he served in the Vietnam War and earned the Distinguished Flying Cross.  He was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church.

Survivors include his loving wife of 54 years, Gail Kimel of Daleville; two daughters: Michele Kline (Kurt) of Level Plains and Christine Gokey (Chris) of Dothan; a son, Jason Kimel (Jennifer) of Columbus, GA; a sister, Judy Harames of Lake Tahoe, NV; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews.

The family thanks Covenant Hospice for their loving, compassionate care.
