Gerald E. Steele of Carbondale, Illinois passed away Saturday, December 20, 2014 at Medical Center Enterprise.  He was 60.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Flowers will be accepted, or donations may be made to the American Heart Association.

Mr. Steele was born June 16, 1954 in Jeffersonville, IN to the late George F. and Twila R. McKamey Steele.  He worked for the Environmental Protection Agency, retiring as s Regional Manager after 30 years of service.  He was a Boy Scout leader who loved the outdoors and enjoyed staying active in Re-enactment.  He was a member of The Vine Church.  He was a loving and caring father, brother, and friend who will be greatly missed.

In addition to his parents, two sisters, Jane and Peggy, preceded him in death.

Survivors include 3 sons: Kevin Steele, Michael Steele, and Ryan Steele, all of Carbondale, IL; his step-father, David Ireland of Crawfordsville, IN; 2 brothers: James Steele (Linda) of Largo, FL and Richard Steele of Enterprise, AL; 2 sisters: Georgiana Nelsen (John) of Houston, TX and Donna Rice (David) of Crawfordsville, IN.
