Mrs. Gertrude Daughtry Phillips of Samson passed away at Wiregrass Medical Center in Geneva on Monday, June 17, 2013.  She was 74.  Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Thursday, June 20, 2013, in the chapel of Pittman Funeral Home in Samson.  Burial will follow in the Piney Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with Pittman Funeral Home of Samson directing.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 10 a.m. until time for funeral services.

Mrs. Phillips was born May 31, 1939, in the Fairview Community of Coffee County to the late Albert Daughtry and Emmer Lee Jennings Daughtry.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Harold Royce Phillips.  She worked for many years as a seamstress with Covington Industries in Samson and Opp.

She is survived by her daughter, Terri & Joel Lancaster of Chancellor, AL; son, Mark & Alicia Phillips of Panama City, FL; one sister, Carolyn Russell of Samson; four grandchildren, Leah Lancaster and Luke Lancaster of Chancellor, AL, Christina Taft of Miami, FL, and James Misciagno of Raleigh, NC.
