Ginger H. Upton, age 98, of Dothan, AL., passed away Friday, February 19, 2016 at Extendicare Health and Rehabilitation Center.

 

She was born November 14, 1917 in Geneva County, AL. to the late Jesse Travis (J.T.) and Willie Mae Hall Hughes.

 

She attended Riley Business College Secretarial and Accounting classes and became a bookkeeper for Rebwood Furniture Manufactures in Headland, AL.

 

In addition to her parents, Ginger is preceded in death by her husband, Ben Upton; sister, Mozelle Hughes; two brothers, Ray Hughes and David Hughes; brother-in-laws, Ray Doss, Sr., Bernard Upton and Bruce Upton.

 

Survivors include a sister, Mary Sue Doss; sisters-in-law, Patty Hughes Gilmore, Ginny Upton and Melba Upton; many nieces and nephews.

 

The family would like to acknowledge her very dear friends; Carolyn White, Annette Weed, Rebecca Deaton, Julie Bishop, Bobbie Williams, Virginia Oliver, Janis Marcum, Charlotte Solomon, Jan Reck and Gary Robinson.

 

We would like to express our heartfelt appreciation to Dr. A. Roland Spedale, Jr., his nurse, Kimberly Robinson, both whom she dearly loved; her very special caregivers: Nancy Webb, Kay Howell, Sherry Cross, Tjuana Bennett, Beverly Cato, Rosetter Gomes, Louise Vann; and the wonderful, caring staff at Extendicare Health and Rehabilitation Center, Dothan, AL.

 

Graveside services will be held at 11 AM, Monday, February 22, 2016 at Memory Hill Cemetery, 2390 Hartford Hwy, Dothan, AL with Reverend Larry Newton, officiating and Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing.

 

Pallbearers will be: Jesse David Hughes, Kim Hughes, John Hughes, David Upton, Charles Gardner and Kevin Hughes.

 

The family will be accepting flowers or request that memorial contributions be made to a church or favorite charity.
