Mrs. Gladys Armor Streyer of Enterprise passed away on Thursday, November 13, 2014 at her home.  She was 96.


Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 16, 2014 at First United Methodist Church with Reverend Tonya Elmore officiating.  Burial will follow in Meadowlawn Cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory of Enterprise directing.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 2:00 – 4:00.


In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the American Cancer Society (Pancreatic Cancer Research), c/o Linda Andress, PO Box 310900, Enterprise, AL 36331.


Mrs. Streyer was born October 12, 1918 in Coffee County to the late Malcom Millard “Mack” Armor and Ada Chancey Armor.  She and her late husband, William E. “Bill” Streyer, Jr., owned and operated Streyer’s Ladies Apparel in Downtown Enterprise.  She was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church.


In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her son, William Eugene Streyer III, Mack Armor Jr. (brother), and Naomi Howerton (sister).


Survivors include her son, Alexander Simpson Streyer of Clearwater, FL; 2 daughters-in-law: Dianne B. Chambers of West Point, GA and Angie P. Streyer of Greenville, SC; 4 grandchildren: Andrew B. Streyer, Elliot A. Streyer, Dr. Emily S. Carlisle (Eric T. Carlisle), and William H. Streyer (fiancée, Rachel J. Waldemer); and 2 great-grandchildren: James P. Carlisle and Anna S. Carlisle.
