Mr. Gordon Young Kemp, of Ozark, passed away on June 12, 2016 in his home after a brave battle with cancer. He was 63.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home in Ozark, Alabama. The family will receive friends at the Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home from 10:00 A.M. until service time.

Mr. Kemp was born on July 1, 1952 in Texas to the late Ralph Kemp and Tiny Evelyn Stanford Kemp, both of Ozark. Mr. Kemp was a lifelong resident of Ozark and attended Carroll High School. As the son of an Alabama State Trooper, Mr. Kemp proudly followed his father’s example in law enforcement and was previously employed with the Ozark Police Department. Mr. Kemp enjoyed spending time with his family as well as with numerous friends throughout the community, with special regards to Doug, Vickie, Andy, and Willis. Mr. Kemp will be fondly remembered for his exceptionally witty sense of humor and will be greatly missed by those that knew him.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Kemp is preceded in death by his brothers, Dale and Shawn Kemp, as well as his grandparents, Earnest and Sallie Stanford, all of Ozark. Survivors include his two sons, John (Lisa) Kemp of Prattville, AL and Matthew (Julia) Smith of Ozark; three grandchildren, Grace Cannon and Stella Kemp of Prattville, and Claire Smith of Ozark; one brother; David (Donna) Kemp of Cantonment, FL; one niece, Celeste Kemp of Ozark; and two great-grandchildren.
