Ms. Grace Laneil Wood Chancey passed away Saturday, April 30, 2016 at her home in Samson with her family at her side. She was 78.

 Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 3, 2016, at Piney Grove Assembly of God Church with Rev. Calvin Sherrouse and Rev. Terry McCrummen officiating. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery with Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home directing.  Visitation will be on Monday, May 2, 2016 from 6 until 8 at the funeral home.

Ms. Chancey was born October 14,1937, in Coffee County Alabama to the late William Melton and Emma Missouri Robbins Wood.

 Ms. Chancey, was a member of the Piney Grove Assembly of God Church for 45 years, where she held many leadership roles in the Church: Church secretary and treasurer for 6 years, Board member, organized the widow’s ministry, she ministered to many thru cooking, ministering to the sick and bereaved families in her community.  She was recognized by the Assemblies of God for her devotion.  She was a member of the Coffee County Young and Adult farmers association. She was devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.  She was employed for 37 years in the Opp Micolas Mills.

 She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Sherman Obie Chancey and 2 sisters and 9 brothers.

 Survivors include: 2 sons & daughters-in-law: Rev. Jack D. Chancey (Kaye) Samson, Al.

Billy “Rod” Chancey (Angela) Samson, Al.  1 daughter & son-in-law: Amy L. Bess (Joseph) Kinston, Al. 1 Brother: James Randal Wood (Elaine) Elba, Al.

 6 Grandchildren and 12 Great-Grandchildren.
