Grace Wynell Cawthon “Nell” Goldsborough, 92, a resident of Dothan, passed away Saturday, June 15, 2013 at her residence.


A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30am on Thursday, June 20, 2013 at St. Columba Catholic Church with Monsignor Patrick Gallagher officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Cemetery with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends from 5-7pm Wednesday evening at the funeral home, and a Rosary service will be held following the visitation.


Mrs. Goldsborough was born November 9, 1920 in Cottondale, Florida later moved to Dothan, Alabama where she met and married Charles E. Goldsborough. Charles’ aunt Wilhelmina Schad had established Schad Flower Shop in Dothan. Nell and Charles moved to Marianna, Florida in 1939 to open the second Schad Flower Shop. Their first son, Jimmy was born in 1940 and their second son, Bobby was born 1941. Charles was drafted and fought in World War II in Europe for three years. In 1956 Wilhelmina Schad passed away. Nell, Charles and the boys moved to Dothan and took over Schad Flower Shop. When Nell and Charles retired from the flower shop it was taken over by Jimmy and Linda Goldsborough. Schad Flower and Garden Shop is still in the Goldsborough family, now owned by Nell’s grandson, Greg.


Mrs. Goldsborough is survived by her two sons, Jimmy (Linda) Goldsborough and Bobby (Dianne) Goldsborough; her grandchildren, Danny Goldsborough, Andy Goldsborough, Terri (Ronnie) Dodson, Greg (Heather) Goldsborough, and Brandy Goldsborough; her great-grandchildren, Jack, Gus, and Kate and her beloved cat Toodles. The family would like to thank all the nurses at Gentiva Hospice Care for all the love and support shown to Nell Goldsborough.
