HAROLD  LLOYD  DEAL,  SR.




DOTHAN…Harold Lloyd Deal, Sr. (CW04, U.S. Army, Retired), a resident of Dothan, died Tuesday morning, February 11, 2014, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was 89.



            Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, February 13, 2014, in the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel with Reverend Donna Sue Roberts officiating. Graveside services, with full military honors, will follow in Gardens of Memory, between Headland and Dothan. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. Thursday at the mortuary.



            Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project National Processing Center, P.O. Box 758518, Topeka, Kansas, 66675, or Covenant Hospice, 104 Rock Bridge Road, Dothan, AL. 36303.



            Mr. Deal was born and reared in Henry County and enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps at an early age. He served his country during World War II. After the war, he returned to Dothan where he graduated from Dothan High School and attended Troy University. Mr. Deal joined the Alabama Army National Guard and was mobilized during the Korean War. A veteran of the Vietnam War, he retired from the Army with the rank of Chief Warrant Officer 4 after twenty-seven years of service.



            After retirement from the military, he was employed by Page Aircraft and Northrop at Ft. Rucker as a supervisor in helicopter maintenance. A member of the Baptist faith, he was a former member of the Dothan Elks Lodge. He enjoyed boating and lake activities and traveling in the R.V. with his family. Mr. Deal was preceded in death by his father, Herbert Deal, Sr., his mother, Valeta Brackin Deal Shelton, and two brothers, Hilburn Gerald Deal, Sr., and Herbert Deal, Jr.



            Surviving relatives include his wife, Betty Ann Evans Deal, a daughter, Becky Deal Waller and husband, Don, all of Dothan; two sons, Lloyd Deal and wife, Judy Pybus Deal, Cottonwood; Steven Deal and wife, Denese Morris Deal, Dothan; a brother, James Deal and wife, Blanche; and a sister-in-law, Fay Lindsey Deal, all of Dothan; eight grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.



            The family would like to express their appreciation to Nicole, Brenda, Sandra, Keisha, Deanna, LaShay, and Mary and also to Covenant Hospice for the loving care and kindness shown to Mr. Deal during his illness.
