GRIMES…Harry Joe McAllister, a resident of Grimes, died early Wednesday morning, May 20, 2015, in a Dothan hospital. He was 76.


            Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, May 23, 2015, in the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel with Reverend Don Clark officiating. Graveside, services with military honors, will follow in Gardens of Memory, between Headland and Dothan. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. Saturday at the mortuary.


            Mr. McAllister was born and reared in the Big Creek Community of Houston County, son of the late James Otis McAllister and Annie Maude Casey McAllister. He was a 1956 graduate of Rehobeth High School and served his country in the U.S. Army Reserve and also the U.S. Air Force. A graduate of Wallace Technical College, Mr. McAllister lived in Dothan most of his lifetime before moving to Grimes nine years ago. He was retired from the Waste Recycling in Dothan. In earlier years, he owned and operated Circle City Texaco Service Station and also was employed with Wiregrass Rehabilitation Center as an Instructor. Mr. McAllister was an active member of the Rainbow Meadows Baptist Church where he served as Chairman of the Deacons and formerly served as Brotherhood Director.


            Surviving relatives include his wife, Mary Ann Keel McAllister; a daughter, Traci Hope McAllister; a son, Harry Jonathan McAllister (Kimberly), all of Grimes; two grandchildren, Amanda Dawn McAllister Thomley (Joey), Dothan; and Alexander Patrick Lints, Grimes; a great-granddaughter, Savannah Grace Thomley; a sister, Nell Johnson (Randall), Alabaster, AL; a brother, James Robert McAllister (Nancy), Hendersonville, TN; several nieces and nephews.


            Serving as active pallbearers will be Joey Thomley, Alex Lints, Jim Bob McAllister, Richard Campbell, Stewart Anderson, and Scott Chatham. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Bobby Campbell, John Grantham, Keith Keel, Jerry Deal, James Mulkey, Jerrad Bryant, Don Clements, and Don Johnson and the Brotherhood of Rainbow Meadows Baptist Church.
