Hazel B (Holmes) Chalmers, age 90 of Ashford, went to be with the Lord on August 9, 2014 at her residence.

 

Mrs. Chalmers was born July 20, 1924 in Rochester, NY to the late Howard Clinton Poole and Delia Hannah Abbott. She was a military wife and lived all over the United States, but moved from Arcadia, FL to settle in Ashford, AL in 2001. She was a faithful wife, mother, and servant to her Savior, spreading his word through her “painted rocks”; she never retired until her journey home. She loved playing the piano for friends and family, and every church that she was a member of. She now is with her Lord and Savior, now playing a piano with golden keys.

 

Mrs. Chalmers is preceded in death by her husband, John Chalmers; son, Ron Chalmers; infant twins, John Andrew and Jean Marie Chalmers; sisters, Edna and Evelyn; nephew, Donald; niece, Lucille.

 

She is survived by her daughters, Judy Martin, Carolyn York Temple (Ricky); sons, Roy Chalmers (Mehee), Charles Holmes (Georgia), Sara Chalmers; grandchildren, Dennis Martin, William Lowe, Pamala Temples (John), Tiffany Davis (Clifford), “Skip” Martin, Brandon York, Cori York, Tina Tye (Jeff), Felisha Chalmers, Carrie Phillips (Jimmie); great-grandchildren, Daniel and Erin Merritt, Blake and Maygen Temples, Kelsey Jenkins, Hannah, Lillian, Hunter, Nick (lil Nickey), Jacob, Lyndsey, Leah.

 

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at 5 PM at Ward Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Steve and Daniel Merritt officiating. In lieu of flowers please make contributions to Gentiva Hospice.
