Henry Bowen, 77, of Pansey passed away May 13, 2013 at his residence. He was born May 20, 1935 to the late John Henry and Flossie (Hasty) Bowen of Houston County, AL. Henry lived in Ashford and Pansey most of his life and was retired from the Alabama National Guard and Pemco Aircraft. Henry was preceded in death by his wife Janet Cook Bowen, a granddaughter Erica Casey Bowen, and sisters Lela Mae Connors and Mildred Faye Woods.


Funeral services will be 2pm Thursday, May 16, 2013 at Pansey Church of Christ with Minister William St. John and Minister Ladon Croom officiating. Mr. Bowen will be placed in the church one hour prior to service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Wednesday at the funeral home. At other times the family will be receiving guests at the home of eldest daughter Faye Johnson located at 322 Telluride Lane, Midland City, AL, 36350.


Survivors include his 5 children, Faye Johnson of Midland City, Cindy Lowery (late husband Lowell) of Kinston, Tim Bowen and his wife Diane of Ashford, John Bowen of Taylor, and Lisa Smith and her husband William of Pansey; 12 grandchildren, Kevin and Misty Hawkins, Josh and Katie Lowery, Tracy Todd, Christi Armstrong, Haley Doswell, Teri Rottman, Crystal and Christa Bowen, and Brandon and Dylan Smith; 9 great-grandchildren, Jacob, Hunter and Chase Hawkins, Morgan and Cody Todd, Luke and Abbie Armstrong, and Austin and Kaitlyn Doswell; 8 brothers and sisters, Merlene Bevan, Christine Thompson, Sue Jenkins, Mary Lee Hidalgo, Helen Buntin, Marylin Pennington, John Bowen, and Rex Bowen; several nieces and nephews also survive.


Pallbearers will be John Allen Payne, Keith Bowen, Dale Green, Bobby Thompson, Randy Woods, and Dennis Green.
